The complete biogas utilization has been renewed at the RWZI  Franeker. To provide the new biogas boiler and CHP with the correct quality gas, Biogas Holland has built a biogas treatment installation on behalf of Eliquo Water & Energy BV at the location of Wetterskip Fryslân in Franeker.

 

Treat and utilize

Biogas is produced at RZWI Franeker during the treatment of sewage sludge. This biogas is used to generate electricity and to heat buildings and processes. The installations (CHP and central heating boiler) that use the biogas have been renewed. With these new, high-efficiency solutions, an increased quality of biogas is also required to prevent machine breakdown and unwanted emissions. Biogas Holland has realized a customized biogas treatment for this specific situation. This allows Wetterskip Fryslân to strip its biogas of hydrogen sulphide, siloxanes and moisture. The quality is also continuously monitored by means of a gas analysis and the biogas treatment with a blower ensures the correct pressure with regard to the customers.

Future and safety

With an appropriate maintenance contract, Biogas Holland relieves Wetterskip Fryslân and takes care of it so that the biogas treatment remains in good condition in the future. In addition, Wetterskip has expressed the wish to check the Franeker installation for gas leaks with a methane camera. This prevents unnecessary gas loss, which also reduces emissions and guarantees safety.
